Lucara Botswana (Pty) Limited “Lucara Botswana” is a diamond mining company which runs Karowe Mine, a state-of-the-art mine located 20km out of Lethakane Village. Karowe is 100% owned by a Canadian company, Lucara Diamond which and is listed on the TS, Nasdaq First North Growth Market and the Botswana Stock Exchange. Karowe Mine, was fully commissioned in 2012. It is one of the world’s foremost producers of large, high quality, Type lIA diamonds in excess of 10.8 carats, including the historic 2,488 Motswedi, 1,758 Sewelo, and the 813-carat Constellation. Lucara Botswana has embarked on an underground project to enable the mine to continue operating until 2040. The company has a workforce of approximately 580 permanent staff members spanning various departments and 1600 contracted employees.
